Blog First - Then Post

If your social media bears the fruit then your RSS should be the root. Hey! I just made that up! If you haven't read my last three or four blogs you might consider it. Those blogs got me on the first page of Google with very little effort. They show what I wanted to rank for and how. That's not to say it was easy, there's a bit of planning on the front end that allows this to happen over and over again.

RSS stands for Real Simple Syndication. It is basically a web publishing standard. In my opinion it's one of the most powerful AND under-utilized components of digital marketing.

If you click the RSS button on my blog, it will take you to my blog feed.

<<<<Go ahead! Click it! It won't bite!

Looks pretty benign really. But every time I blog, that blog grows my tree. I get an automatic post via RSS feed to Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+, LinkedInCompany, and Twitter. (those are my goto sites but it doesn't need to stop there). You can automatically publish videos in YouTube to FaceBook for example.

The tree is your business. The simple message is if you want to grow your tree then feed the root: BLOG!
