Best Free WiFi Hotspots in Dayton, Ohio

We're out with our clients all the time and having a fast reliable internet connection is important for a social business meeting. So we decided to check and report as we go to these different venues. Hope it helps!

To present consistent information, we use www.speedtest.net to check the wi-fi speed after we login to the venue's hotspot. We'll post the results directly from that test.

Panera - Kettering - Town and Country Shopping Plaza - 1Mbps

in Panera Kettering Town and Country

Just held a business meeting and as usual the internet connection is lack luster. Sufficient for email and basic browsing but don't plan on anything fast.

Ok, I get it. Panera is decent food, good coffee and plenty of meeting space. WiFi is somewhat of an afterthought. Panera does not want you camping out there (they limit your connection to 30 minutes during lunch-time.

So have a bagel and coffee or a you-pick-two lunch and it's a good place. You do see a lot of over the table business meetings so it's still a favorite for that.

But, if you have any hefty work on the web, skip Panera. In this case, just head down the street to the Starbucks in Oakwood.

Panera's results: a little over 1 Mbps download speeds. By comparison, your Roadrunner basic connection is 15Mbps and AT&T is 5-10 Mbps (if you're lucky). A good connection on the road runs about 5Mbps. That's fast enough to stream video or pull up graphic intense websites. Panera's 1 Mbps will feel sluggish but it will get you there - eventually. It should not be the primary reason you go to Panera.
