Local SEO Checklist

in Local SEO

If you like lists, here's one to follow. Our local SEO audits show that less than 1% of businesses have completed this checklist. Their loss is your gain!

  1. Establish your business name, address and phone number (NAP).
  2. Claim Google My Business Listing (using your NAP)
  3. Claim secondary search site local listings.
  4. Claim social media site business pages
  5. Submit to major database aggregators (we have a list if you need it)
  6. Complete top level citations and directories (there are 1000's - we prioritize by value to Google)
  7. Collect reviews and testimonials - prioritizing Google My Business and Yelp
  8. Add Content Markup to you Webpage (talk to your webmaster)
  9. Add your location to your website (every page) using the NAP you established
  10. External linking - Link to BBB and other valuable web assets to your business
  11. Make sure you pass the speed test (on average 2 seconds or less for page load).
  12. Create high quality unique content (no copying allowed) - Our Hyperblog method is awesome for this
  13. Consider voice search (cutting edge but coming fast) optimization.
  14. Backlinks (not easy but very effective). Links from other sites (especially local) to your site tell Google that your site has important content.
  15. NEW: Add Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) to Your Website
