Think You Can Keep Up With Google?

in Google SEO

I've said it many times to clients, don't try to game the system. You might get some short term gains but in the end, you'll get caught. It's not like the internet police will put you in jail but you're gonna think that's where your website is if you don't play by the rules. In the end it has been and always will be about good, authoritative content, easy navigation, informative inbound and outbound links and common sense.

According to Google, there will be more Penguin updates
It shouldn't be a shock to anyone. Google never stops changing, improving and modifying their algorithm. If for no other reason, the shuffle keeps some businesses at least moderately in the pay-per-click sections of search as a hedge on Google changes. Google plans to launch the next generation of the Penguin algorithm in the next month or so. The Penguin 2.0 update is expected to be deeper and affect more sites than the first round....and to some, the first round was a killer!

What is Penguin? The Penguin update targets websites that use spam tools to create backlinks. If you’re using tools that automatically create backlinks to your site, stop using them now. Your links now need to look organic. No more mass linking. Believe me, it's not that hard to detect.

For the small business client, avoid buying links from any resource. If they don't get you now, they will later. Avoid advertorials, link networks and any resource whose sole purpose is to generate links.

Authority websites will get a ranking boost
Google plans to give websites that are an authority in their category a ranking boost. Authority? Weill it's deep content, deep linking, resourceful and helpful.

Google wants to reduce the number of webmasters who use black-hat spam techniques. Smaller businesses that use white-hat SEO methods should rank better. Yay! for 50Bubbles customers!
